Collection of research papers acquired by History Department

The Department of History has recently been given the research papers of the late Gordon Elliott of Hull, who pioneered the study of field systems in Cumberland.
This valuable collection of notes, photocopies and maps – all meticulously organised – will form a vital resource for VCH Cumbria volunteers working on the Economic History sections of parish/township histories in Cumberland. We are extremely grateful to Gordon Elliott’s family for passing this material on to the project.
