At a Volunteers Meeting held at Penrith on 23 May, Angus Winchester and Sarah Rose outlined their plans for the next few months. The main effort will be directed at getting a small number of pilot township articles completed and published on the website within 12 months, both as a demonstration of our determination and also to develop the methodology .

Dr David Starkey will launch the rededication to the Queen of the Victoria History of the Counties of England by delivering The Marc Fitch Lecture in the Chancellor’s Hall of Senate House, University of London on Monday 25th June.

On Friday 22nd September James Bowen led a field trip to Troutbeck, with twelve volunteers participating. The group explored various themes of economic, social and religious history as well as points of architectural interest, all of which are relevant to VCH research.
